PORTRAITS  OF  VERNACULAR  ARCHITECTURE

IN  NEW  MEXICO

Paul Strand once said that a portrait must convey the subject’s presence in a way that, even without ever having met the person, a viewer is confronted with someone they will never forget. The objective of these portraits has never been simple documentation in the academic sense, but rather the creation of portraits that speak for themselves – images that express the photographer's subliminal fascination with their anomalous visages, while at the same time conveying the feeling of being almost able to hear them tell their stories.
